Opportunities Industrialization Centers Ghana (OIC Ghana)
Emma Modesta Agbodji’s family was plagued by HIV/AIDS. Her father passed away from the side effects of the disease, and her mother was forced to quit her job. However, Emma was offered the chance to join OIC International’s HOPE Program, which offers care and economic support to people living with HIV/AIDS and provides orphans and other vulnerable children the opportunity to attend OICI Ghana’s skills training program.
Emma graduated top of her class with a specialization in office administration and computer science and was offered a job as an office secretary. In her own words, Emma reminds us of just how big an impact our work can have on participants: “As a woman, this program has empowered me to be self-sustainable and I can lend support to my family. I have resolved to be strong-minded to overcome all the barriers against me as a woman.”
