Dr. Randall W. Maxey is a nephrologist in private practice in Los Angeles. For more than three decades, he has been an attending physician at California-based hospitals, including Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, Inglewood; Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital, Marina Del Rey; Centinela Hospital Medical Center, Hawthorne; Brotman Medical Center, Culver City; and Los Angeles Metropolitan Hospital, Los Angeles.

In addition, Dr. Maxey has held academic appointments and university positions at Charles R. Drew University, Los Angeles; Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York; Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York; and Howard University, Washington, DC. Dr. Maxey is past president of the National Medical Association where he has been a strong voice for African-American doctors. He is also well known for his research in the area of prevention and treatment of renal failure, especially in cases complicated by cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Maxey holds a PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology and an MD from Howard University, in addition to a BS degree in pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati.
